When Wordle first launched, you were on your own: 5 squares, 26 letters, and your brain. However, the viral success of the game soon spawned an entire industry with articles on Wordle alternatives, helper tools, and Wordle tips such as my article.
All of this means it’s much easier to get help with Wordle today if you need it. Because even if you don’t use the Wordle solver tools while playing, referencing them later will definitely improve your game.
Below are five Wordle solver tools and resources. This will help you level up your game and keep your streak safe for the next day.
1. WordleBot from the New York Times
what is that?
WordleBot was launched by the NYT in April 2022. The dual purpose is to help people improve their game and convince people to sign up for his NYT subscription. Obviously they don’t allow the latter but it’s clear to me that you shouldn’t make a tool like this and put it behind a paywall if that’s not one of the purposes .
The idea is to access it after completing the daily Wordle (before that it doesn’t work) and analyze the game to give helpful feedback.
And you get a lot of it. First, WordleBot tells you exactly which word to play each turn. For example, I’ve learned that LINED is the best choice if my first guess gives me R and E in yellow, and SLATE is the best starting word for Wordle (but I’ll ignore the advice on that point ).

It also tells you how many choices were left after each guess, the choices other players made, and the overall average score for each game. None of this is critical information, but Wordle enthusiasts put it together.
Above all, it really helps us improve our game. Sure, it can be patronizing, but any advice (don’t guess blindly) on how best to approach Wordle is invaluable.
The $1/week subscription fee (£0.50/AU$0.50) is well worth it, but be aware that the price jumps significantly after the first year. Still, if WordleBot isn’t enough, that subscription also gives you access to his other NYT games, plus lots of news and features.
Is it cheating to use WordleBot?
In a nutshell: no. WordleBot will provide information about the game of the day only after completing the game of the day.

2. Wordle Solver by The Word Finder
There are many Wordle Solver tools that let you type letters and see possible answers, but one that stands out above the rest is the aptly named Wordle Solver from The Word Finder site.
The main advantage over our competitors is that we can specify the exact position where the yellow letter is already excluded, but none of the others. , although not perfect, will no doubt provide a more accurate solution as a result.
As an example, I tried yesterday’s Wordle (game #635) and got CIDER. I had an I and an E, so I put them in the green boxes. I also knew that it had an R and a D in it and that the D didn’t come out last.
It gave me this result:

There was an answer, CIDER , as well as other guesses I tried, such as EIDER and WIDER . In addition, other words WordleBot has since suggested were RIDER and HIDER.
In contrast, all other tools suggested FIRED as a possible solution, but it was not the answer in this case.
I personally don’t use it while playing the game because I like the challenge of finding as many possible answers as possible, but if you rush through the game before the midnight deadline or are completely stumped If so, it’s a great option. It’s also handy to see what you were able to play after a game if you haven’t signed up for WordleBot.
Is it cheating to use the Wordle Solver?
Well, it depends on how you use it and your point of view! I personally don’t use it during games, but it will definitely come in handy later on. Besides, I’m a bit hardcore about how I play. Ultimately, you can draw the line wherever you like.

3. Past Wordle Answers
The longer Wordle goes on, the harder it becomes to remember all past Wordle answers. In the end, there are 637 of them (starting with game #0), and unless you have a much better memory than I do, you’ll probably have trouble remembering more than a few dozen.
It’s made worse by the fact that so many answers are similar. Was there a FLOAT or a GLOAT (or both)? Was that really hard RIPER or PIPER? Some are definitely memorable, but many aren’t.
One option is to browse the list of past answers. A simple page search could tell you if the word you were trying to play was a previous solution, potentially turning a 5/6 into a 4/6.
Is it cheating to refer to a list of past Wordle answers?
Again, it’s up to you to decide, but I think most people would consider this a fair resource to use while playing. Later you will have more previous answers than the rest. The game can be a farce if you don’t check a list like this.

4. World Unlimited
One of the best ways to improve your Wordle skills is to practice. However, Wordle itself doesn’t help much as he can only play once a day. Enter Wordle Unlimited (opens in new tab) a site that offers unlimited games of your favorite word-guessing puzzles.
It’s basically the exact same game as Wordle, down to the stats/streak info, and it’s a little strange that it hasn’t been shut down by the NYT yet.
Is it cheating to play Wordle Unlimited?
Absolutely not. It helps hone your game, but it can’t ruin your answers for the day.

5. Wardle Archive
Another way to practice Wordle is to play old games. May exceed 600. This offers a distinct advantage over playing Wordle Unlimited and the like. Because tomorrow when you actually play, you may remember some of the answers.
Playing past Wordles was sporadically possible via one of several Wordle archive sites, but they were all but shut down by the NYT last year. However, at the time of writing, at least one such site exists. (opens in new tab) So I suggest you give it a try sooner or later?
It does exactly what you would expect: you can play every single Wordle right into the first Wordle. I tried it myself and got to where I am today with just one failure. The game itself is set up exactly like the real Wordle, but you can also jump to specific puzzles if you want.
Is it cheating to play Wordle Archives?
Very little, but the current game is included, so you can play there and then go to the official site and complete it in 1/6 and so on. But you are only fooling yourself.
