Acer, the technology company best known for computer and Laptop is venturing into new territory with an electric bike called the Evie (opens in new tab) .
What makes this bike unique is the AI called ebiiAssist (opens in new tab) , According to Acer, it will add the ability to “learn” a person’s riding style to provide a “more personalized experience.”
Learning allows you to fine-tune motor power to provide an effortless ride based on your pedaling power and current road conditions. All of this information is collected as user insights that can be viewed through the ebiiGo companion app. In it, the rider said, “Check the recommended route, [ebii’s] battery life, [their] riding speed”. There is also an ebiiRide app with 3 different ride modes. There’s an energy-efficient Eco mode, a Boost mode to make the motor run faster, and a My ebii mode for a “smart balance” between the two.
As for hardware, it has a strong, lightweight aluminum frame with an “intelligent vehicle control box.” In total, ebii weighs about 35 pounds (16 kg to be exact). One of the lighter e-bikes . Equipped with a single “250/350 W motor” with 48 V CANbus [battery]” and 40 Nm of torque allow the bike to reach speeds of around 15 mph (25 km/h). Acer claims he can ride his ebii up to 68 miles (110 km) on a single charge, and the bike can be fully charged in about 2.5 hours. Interestingly, the battery pack can also be removed and used as a portable charger for other devices.
safety first
Acer also includes a number of bike safety features. There are standard headlights and taillights that “automatically turn on” at night. There is another set of LED lights under the control box for better visibility in the dark. A rear-collision warning radar is “mounted under the seat to warn riders” of cars or objects coming too close from behind. Additionally, ebiiGo allows users to enable eLock to prevent theft, but in the unfortunate event of a theft, the app has a theft alert and Find My Bike to help locate your e-bike.
Release date, price range, and regional availability are all currently unknown. Email alerts from Acer on the ebii web page (opens in new tab) Considering all the features that come with ebii, AI, I doubt this e-bike will come cheap.
