ADRIAN — Adrian College has officially launched a new secure and interactive website.
According to AC’s news release, the process of deploying the new website took about two years and involved a lot of innovative work by a team of combined marketing and web design experts. The university’s marketing and public relations department began transferring data from its “old and outdated” website created in 2012 to its newly launched website at the end of 2020.
“In the meantime, technology has advanced significantly, rendering the Adrian University website outdated and insecure,” said the release. “Her website at Adrian College is now fully secure and users can take advantage of all the new additions.”
The website will also be able to keep up with new advancements in the future by incorporating improved features, the release added.
Adrian College’s Director of Marketing, Claire Simpson, took over the new website project in April 2022 and was promoted to the role of Director, leading the creative team to the new look and feel demanded by college administrators. With so many features added, it’s hard for her to pick one that works best, Simpson said.
“There are a lot of new features that I’m excited about,” she said in the release. The video makes the new website very eye-catching for visitors, and I believe we have achieved our goal of creating a positive atmosphere at Adrian College.”
Simpson and her staff gathered information from the university’s senior management and attended multiple meetings with program directors and departmental staff to ensure that the web pages accurately reflected what was being offered. . According to the release, she also worked with her first creative agency, FORM, Digital, which designed an integrated website.
Simpson praised the members of her marketing team. They picked up slack in other projects she would normally take on so that her main focus could be putting together a new website, she said. According to the release, AC’s marketing team has three of her staff.
Frank Hribar, AC’s Vice President of Admissions and Student Affairs, oversaw the project.
“One of the first things visitors will read when they hit the landing page of our new website is the statement ‘Culture of Innovation.’ These simple words represent the educational institution Adrian College is known for. I think it summarizes the type of ,” Hribar said in the release. “Adrian College is also known for how immaculate and stunning our grounds are. Parents and students often say that’s one of the reasons they come to Adrian. We want you to have the same feeling we have on our campus when you’re using the site and online.”
According to the release, one of the biggest changes was to secure the university’s website. This made the AC hyperlink https://www.adrian.edu/. The ‘s’ appended to the end of ‘http’ stands for ‘secure’ and indicates that the website uses a Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) certificate. According to the release, this certificate lets users know that all data is encrypted as it passes from the browser to the website’s servers.
Simpson noted that users navigating the older version of the website said they were uncomfortable giving out personal information online.
“Now I have a site that keeps all my personal information safe and secure,” she said.
New website improvements, new features, and enhancements include:
A “header alert” banner to keep your viewers up-to-date. A mobile-friendly display for viewing on a variety of media devices. RSS (Really Simple Syndication) feed functionality allows users to stay up to date with the latest published articles and social media posts. Implementation of new enrollment management for online applications, requests for information, and other admissions-related needs and materials. Search or filter by degree, program, or area of study to find the undergraduate or graduate program that best fits your student’s needs. Chat feature for easy access to librarians. Access your library’s digital resources on and off campus, and change your display language and font size. High resolution photo and video capabilities. A net price calculator tool that allows students to calculate the cost of their college education at Adrian College. An interactive campus map that allows users to explore the campus and take advantage of features such as satellite view and zoom, facility details including photos and videos. Archived news releases and articles dating back to 2018 can be searched by year. “This was my first really big project as a (marketing) director, so I’m both comfortable and pretty emotional about the (website) launch,” Simpson said. “When I was a student here, I used the old adrian.edu website, so I’m excited. That was many years ago. So the fact that the old website is still there gives us a great sense of accomplishment to actually launch a fully updated website that will be used for years to come.”
