Apple Watch Series 9 leak shows off watchOS 10 in all its glory

An alleged new Apple Watch leak showcases the new watchOS 10 home screen. This is similar to all Apple Watch features from Series 4 onwards. apple watch series 9.

The Apple Watch design may not have changed significantly in the past eight years since it debuted, but judging by this leak, watchOS has definitely changed. A longtime Apple analyst and leaker, @analyst941 on his Twitter, suggests that watchOS 10 will see a different home screen than the current home screen.

But what you probably didn’t expect is one of watchOS’s longest-running features: the home screen revamp.

“I saved the best for last. watchOS will have a redesigned home screen layout/grid,” the tweet reads, but it sounds like there’s more to it than that.

“Heavy details coming soon. But it will be much easier to use, navigate and interact with than you are familiar with iOS, including folders,” explains analyst941.

“I’m not sure if it will be the third option, or if it will replace the default grid.”

Analysis: There’s No Place Like Home Screen

Depending on how you use your device, you may not see the watchOS home screen very often. That’s because you can place many of your most-used apps across a customizable watch face, but pressing the Digital Crown takes you to the screen with all your apps.

The default view is a grid view, but you can convert it to an alphabetical list. As you can see in the rendering above (not official artwork), a grid-like view makes it easy to display multiple apps on a single page.

This is especially useful when you have a lot of apps installed, and is another example of how Apple shows that nothing is sacred with watchOS.

For example, when the Apple Watch debuted, users could rotate the Digital Crown to see a sort of “time travel” view of the day’s meetings and appointments, but it was removed fairly early on. In a tweet, analyst941 also said: [sic] It’s hinted that Apple’s wearable will eventually add its own Health app, separate from what’s on the iPhone.
