Even before his first day on the job, the salary of the new Chief Executive (CAS) was revised upward by the Salary and Compensation Committee (SRC). This means they earn more than the chief secretary.
In a new review, the SRC dictates that CAS monthly payments will be increased from 765,188 shillings to 780,000 shillings following job evaluations placed in higher job grades.
CAS is currently among the top six highest-paid civil servants in the nation, ranking in the league of presidents, vice presidents, members of Congress and ministers.
“The SRC wants to determine the monetary value of CAS jobs in the F1 grade and advise on the structure of attendant compensation and benefits,” said SRC Chairman Lynn Mengich.
