Die-hard Apple fan brings 1980s Macintosh to Apple BKC Mumbai for Tim Cook

Apple has opened its first retail store in India, Apple BKC, in Mumbai. UX designer and Apple enthusiast Sajid brought an old Macintosh SE from the 1980s and showed it to CEO Tim Cook. Another of his Apple fans brought in his 10-year-old iPod to get Cook’s autograph.

On Tuesday, Apple CEO Tim Cook officially launched the company’s first retail store in India. The long-awaited shop has opened in Mumbai’s popular Bandra Kurla Complex district. Hundreds of die-hard Apple enthusiasts reportedly began queuing in front of the brand-new store hours before the grand opening.

Apple fan Sajid, who took his Macintosh to the opening of the BKC shop in Mumbai, eventually met Tim Cook after the CEO opened the store door for the official opening. Cook slapped Sajid on the back while store staff celebrated and took pictures.

The Macintosh in question is actually the Macintosh SE sold by Apple Computer from March 1987 to October 1990. It was a major improvement over the Macintosh Plus design and was introduced by Apple at the same time as the Macintosh II.

“It’s been a long road. ‘I’m happy that Apple is opening a store in India,'” Sajid told journalists.

While waiting for the Apple BKC shop to open, UX designer Sajid told reporters that he was very excited about the store’s introduction in India, saying that when he creates said he had never felt so happy. “I have used all Apple products, desktops, laptops, iMacs, color candies, etc. Working with Apple products is a real pleasure. there is no other,” he says.

The launch of Apple’s first retail store in India coincides with the company’s 25th anniversary in the country in 2023. In an official announcement, Apple revealed the location of its first retail store.

“This week, Apple is celebrating over 25 years in India.The company announced the location of its first Apple Store in India, in addition to a new environmental initiative and a significant milestone in the rapidly growing Indian community. We are making great strides by opening a developer,” the company said in a statement.

Meanwhile, one Apple fan wanted to bring his 10-year-old iPod to Apple BKC and have it personalized by Tim Cook.

Customers can learn more about the company’s products and services at BKC locations. According to reports, Apple BKC was created with the future in mind. His BKC shop at Apple is one of the company’s most energy-efficient locations in the world, with dedicated solar arrays and no reliance on fossil fuels for operations.
