The DJI Mavic 3 Pro has finally officially landed. As rumors predicted, this is DJI’s first three-camera consumer drone and a new flagship that sits on top of the Mavic 3 series.
Not familiar with DJI drones? The Mavic series is the top-range consumer drone that sits above the mid-range Air series and the beginner-friendly Mini series. It surpassed the reasonably priced DJI Mavic 3 Classic to become the top model in the series.
So what makes the Mavic 3 Pro deserving flagship status? Its main draw is the three cameras that promise to be DJI’s most versatile drone yet. The Mavic 3 Pro has a main Four Thirds camera (24mm focal length) flanked by a new medium-telephoto 1/1.3-inch medium-telephoto camera (70mm focal length) and an improved 166mm telephoto camera.
(Image credit: DJI) Its telephoto is similar to that of the DJI Mavic 3 with the same small 1/2-inch sensor, but with a slightly longer focal length and a brighter aperture (f/3.4 compared to f/4.4). This can help improve the quality of long zoom shots, especially in less-than-ideal lighting.
But what definitely has more potential is the new medium-telephoto camera. It’s effectively the DJI Mini 3 Pro’s main camera with its long focal length, promising to neatly bridge the gap between the Mavic 3 Pro’s wide-angle and super-telephoto lenses, and capturing subjects you might not be able to fly close to. You can get close to things (e.g. people or buildings) without having to use digital zoom.
So what are the other advantages (and disadvantages) of the DJI Mavic 3 Pro, and is it the drone for you? Here are all the official details, plus our initial verdict.

Oddly enough, DJI says that the existing DJI Mavic 3 will continue to be sold, but that drone will no longer be produced. This explains why the DJI Mavic 3 Pro is priced almost identically to the Mavic 3.
Ultimately, this leaves two options for the Mavic 3 series. The new Pro version and the more affordable single-camera DJI Mavic 3 Classic.
DJI Mavic 3 Pro specs and features The DJI Mavic 3 Pro rumors were mostly spot on. This is DJI’s first consumer drone with three cameras, making it an unrivaled aerial companion when it comes to filming versatility.
First, let’s take a look at that new camera setup. As you can see below, the Mavic 3 Pro uses the standard Mavic 3’s main camera (which has a large Four Thirds sensor), along with a new 70mm mid-telephoto lens and a slightly upgraded 166mm telephoto lens (better f/ Mavic 3 than 3.4 caliber.

Its main camera can shoot 5.1K video at 50fps or DCI 4K at 120fps.
The Mavic 3 Pro’s mid-telephoto camera sounds especially fun thanks to its 1/1.3-inch sensor (same as the DJI Mini 3 Pro) and ability to shoot 48MP stills or 4K/60p video. It also supports DJI’s new D-log M format. This promises to be a versatile option for color grading.
Finally, its telephoto lens promises to be slightly better than the Mavic 3 thanks to its aperture boost (it’s f/3.4 compared to its predecessor’s f/4.4). It still only has a small 1/2-inch sensor, but it could be a handy emergency option for b-roll.
Elsewhere, DJI says the Mavic 3 Pro can manage 43 minutes of flight time (several minutes less than the Mavic 3), but the actual filming time could be equivalent to about 30 minutes. It also has the same obstacle avoidance system as before, working seamlessly with eight wide-angle sensors to detect tree branches and objects.
Like the Mavic 3, the Mavic 3 Pro also features DJI’s latest O3+ transmission system, promising to deliver a 1080p/60fps HD live feed at distances of up to 15km (in the US) or 8km. It has been. Drone laws in most regions require drone line-of-sight to be maintained, but these distances are only theoretical.
