Driver Recruitment: US$253 to help train CDL bus drivers

US$253 Emporia invites all residents interested in working in the district’s transportation sector to apply now.

Speaking at KVOE’s Emporia on Friday, Rob Scheib, deputy district superintendent of business operations, said the district is somewhat low when it comes to available school routes and activity bus drivers. Scheib said the talent shortage is due to a variety of factors, including resignations, fewer applicants, and lower wages.

He said the district has taken steps to address wage discrepancies over the past year.

Transport Director Michel Charbonneau told KVOE News that the district provides all the training drivers need to obtain their CDL licenses.

Drivers can also receive a $500 signing bonus and a $250 referral bonus for becoming a district driver.
