Dam B – Three people were injured in a three-vehicle wreck on the Dam B bridge on Sunday night.
The Beech Grove Volunteer Fire Department (BGVFD) reported that the accident involved an 18-wheel tractor-trailer truck and two passenger cars. BGVFD personnel were called to assist the Dam B Volunteer Fire Department and several other agencies at the crash site at 8:56 pm.
The collision occurred on a two-lane section of highway, and one of the vehicles, a 2015 Toyota, was heading west at the same time as a Mack tractor-trailer, according to reports from the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS). Trucks headed east, followed by a 2009 Lexus automobile.
It is believed that at this point the Toyota crossed into oncoming traffic, struck the trailer, and struck the bridge superstructure, according to DPS reports.
The woman, identified as Raven Williams, a 30-year-old Beaumont resident and Toyota driver, was taken to Conroe Hospital by PHI Air Medical Med 11 helicopter.
All injured on site were treated by Allegiance Mobile Health and Allegiance Mobile Health – Jasper EMS.
Truck driver Douglas Lee, 39, of Vidor and Lexus driver, Damarcus Rawls, 23, of Jasper, were treated at Christus Jasper Memorial Hospital.
Firefighters said if Lee hadn’t been wearing his seatbelt, he probably would have fallen off the truck and into the river. They said the door was torn from the rig when it stopped on the railing of the bridge.
US 190 was closed to all east-west traffic for two and a half hours and reopened at 11:30 p.m.
