Gutenberg Times Holds Webinar on How to Use New WordPress Layout Features – WP Tavern

Gutenberg Times will host a live Q&A webinar titled Layout, Layout, Layout on January 11, 2023 at 5:00 PM ET (US & Canada) via Zoom. This event is open to his WordPress users of all experience levels who want to learn more about how to use WordPress layout features while building a site using blocks.

Joining host Birgit Pauli-Haack are WordPress veterans Isabel Brison, Andrew Serong, and Justin Tadlock. Brison will demonstrate various layouts of her scenarios during her presentation, and attendees will be able to participate in questions.

Those of you who have tried laying out designs in WordPress have probably tried container blocks that provide layout settings. These blocks include Columns, Cover blocks, and generic Group blocks.

This event describes how to manipulate the layout by defining the width of the post content, aligning the block horizontally or vertically, aligning it right or left, aligning it inside a container block, etc. .

“Layout is a complex feature when it comes to block styling, as it affects child blocks in ways that go beyond CSS inheritance,” Pauli-Haack said.

WordPress 6.1 introduced more layout controls and block editor flexibility, but according to Pauli-Haack, the updated layout support dev notes are written for developers.

“Feedback from users through the FSE program and other connections has made it clear that the handling of container block layout settings is not particularly intuitive and requires trial and error to find the right combination. ‘ she said. “Live Q&A helps us understand our users and #nocode site builders better.”

She’s also planning another live Q&A with the WordPress VIP design team, who are working on design systems for businesses that need a streamlined way to stay within design standards.
