Hitachi Energy confirms data breach after being hit by Clop ransomware

We are happy to add Hitachi Energy to the ever-growing list of organizations compromised by the GoAnywhere MFT zero-day vulnerability.

The company has published a press release detailing the breach.

“We recently learned that a third-party software provider called FORTRA GoAnywhere MFT (Managed File Transfer) has fallen victim to an attack by CLOP ransomware. (opens in new tab) Unauthorized access to employee data may have occurred in some countries,” the company said.

The company said it acted immediately upon detection, isolating the GoAnywhere program from its wider network and launching an investigation to assess the impact of the incident. “To date, we have no information that neither our network operations nor the security and trustworthiness of customer data have been compromised.”

In early February 2023, ransomware threat actor Clop was responsible for a data theft attack against Community Health Systems (CHS), a popular file-sharing service developed by Fortra and used by large enterprises.
