How to reset WP admin user password using Linux command or config file with SFTP access?

Given that the password is stored in a database, you should use a method that accesses the database.

I have a problem that I can’t login even though my password is defined as MD5 in MYSQL.

If you forget your WordPress admin password, you can reset it via email from your WordPress dashboard login page by following these steps:

1. Go to the WordPress login page (example.com/wp-admin)
2. click Forgot your password? at the bottom

Here are the steps to reset the WordPress admin user password using Linux commands and SFTP access:

1. Connect to your website using SFTP.
2. Navigate to the root directory of your WordPress installation.
3. Open the wp-config.php file in a text editor.
4. Add the following lines of code to the end of the file.

5. Save your changes and close the file.
6. Visit the following URL in your browser: example.com/wp-admin/maint/repair.php (replace example.com with your domain name)
7. Click the Repair Database button.
8. When the repair is complete, it will say “Repair completed. Please remove the following line from wp-config.php to prevent this page from being used by unauthorized users.”
9. Remove the line of code added in step 4 from the wp-config.php file.
10. Go to the website’s login page.
11. Click “Forgot your password?”Link

13. Check the email associated with your admin account for a link to reset your password

I have confirmed the problem. In my current PHP setup, the folder permissions were being changed due to PHP’s strict requirements, which is now resolved and login is working fine.
