PULLMAN, Michigan (AP) — Investigators with the Michigan Sheriff’s Department believe a man killed himself after shooting two children and their mother, officials said late Saturday.
In a statement, the Allegan County Sheriff’s Office said officers found all four dead inside a Lee Township home on Saturday afternoon.
The statement said the woman’s uncle went to check on her family and then called the police and reported seeing her unresponsive through the window.
The sheriff’s office identified the victims as Cindy Claus, 35, and her two children, ages 10 and 13. Police believe 34-year-old Roger Kyle shot Klaus and her children before her Haggar committed suicide, according to a statement, but did not provide further details. Continuing research.
A neighbor told WOOD-TV that he heard several gunshots around noon Saturday and thought someone was hunting until he saw a sheriff’s car in the area.
“It’s horrible, it’s horrible,” said neighbor Kevin Haitmanczyk. “You hear about it, but you never think it’s going to happen across the road.”
