Westport — New homes in Westport are in high demand, selling almost as fast as builders are completing them, according to local realtors.

There will be 63 new buildings in Westport in 2022, down slightly from 76 in 2021, according to data from Westport’s Planning and Zoning Division. 57 in 2020, 49 in 2019 and 62 in 2018.

The pace of new construction in Westport is high compared to other communities in Fairfield County. Data differ when compared to Darien, Fairfield and Greenwich. In 2022, Darien had 29 new builds and Greenwich had 71 new builds, but Fairfield’s numbers are not yet available. In 2021, Darien had 34, Fairfield 48 and Greenwich 60.

As of Jan. 5, Westport has 20 new construction homes on the market, according to Riverside Realty Group agent Mary Ann Lindwall. The average price of these properties is her $4.4 million, which ranges from $1.8 million to $9.4 million. a million.

Julie Vanderblue, founder of The Vanderblue Team, says Westport homes are always in high demand.
