Don’t be surprised if the meadow burn starts quickly throughout the KVOE listening area.
For the past 15 years, there have been controlled and uncontrolled burns as early as mid-January, but the official season doesn’t start until March or April.
This year too, the county of Lyon invites residents to fill out a burn permit online. Emergency manager Jarrod Fell said this will benefit both residents and emergency workers.
To obtain a burning permit online, visit lyoncounty911.org and[サービス]in the dropdown tab[焼却手順]find The form asks for your name. telephone number; home address; e-mail address; type, quantity and location of area to be incinerated. Also ask if the fire is on or has been extinguished. A permit is required for each burn.
If residents are unfamiliar with the online process, they can call the Lyon County Emergency Communications non-emergency number at 620-343-4225, but they should call when the fire starts and when it’s extinguished .
Lion County is currently participating in an online cremation permit process with Osage County. Osage County residents should go online at osageco.org and use the Departments dropdown tab to find the “Online Burn Permit” under Sheriff. The information requested is not as extensive as the County of Lyon will allow, but it does ask for name, phone number, email address, type of burn, and location of burn.
