The jury system is crap, but it’s better than anything else. If a juror happens to be informed, good for them. The ideal juror shouldn’t be someone who hasn’t heard of anything that’s happening around them. It’s supposed to be a jury of your peers, not a group of self-isolating, ignorant people.
The real weakness is having one judge. There should be three at all trials, not just bench trails. I used to think judges try to be impartial but it’s all a show. They’re either flat out bought and paid for, or they have some ideology they fixate on that gives them what the verdict should be before they hear any evidence, then they steer the trial in that direction.
