Even the best phones can fall short when it comes to battery life — think the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra and the iPhone 14 Pro Max.
Naturally, a bigger battery comes at the cost of portability – but that didn’t stop one Reddit user from trying to answer the question: What if you put a giant power pack on the back of a cheap smartphone? What will happen?
As spotted by 9to5Google (opens in new tab) Redditor u/Downtown_Cranberry44 (opens in new tab) went through some DIY wizardry to successfully install a working 30,000mAh battery into a Samsung Galaxy A32 5G. Yes, you are right. It’s a 30,000mAh battery. For context, this is six times the size of the original 5,000mAh battery in the Galaxy A32 5G, and it already provides about two days of moderate use.
Do the math, if a 5,000 mAh battery gets you two days, a 30,000 mAh battery should give you almost two weeks of battery life, at least on paper. It’s entirely possible that u/Downtown_Cranberry44 owns the world’s longest-lasting smartphone. Check out the image of the modified device below.

Of course, this is not a DIY modification that we recommend doing at home. First of all, the 30,000mAh battery pack makes this particular Galaxy A32 5G nearly unusable, adding about a pound (0.5 kilo) to its weight and adding 3 cm of extra size to the slim and lightweight smartphone. seems to have been added.
But one of the bigger concerns is safety. As 9to5Google points out, power packs of this size are prone to leaks and exterior damage. There’s a reason you can’t fly with a battery over 27,000 mAh under current US law.
At the moment, this kind of home experiment is nothing more. For example, you can’t expect Apple to add a high-capacity battery to the back of the iPhone 15.However, such experiments can It helps you understand how much engineering cleverness goes into the neat packaging of c. The 5,000mAh battery found in today’s smartphones.
When it comes to phones offering the longest-lasting batteries in 2023, around 16 hours from the Asus ROG Phone 6 and just over 13 hours from both the recently released Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra and iPhone 14 Pro Max.
