Tech jobs to grow 3.2% in 2022 despite job cuts: CompTIA

Despite layoffs, US tech jobs will grow 3.2% in 2022, adding 286,400 jobs, according to CompTIA’s “State of the Tech Workforce” report released today.

CompTIA Chief Research Officer Tim Herbert said: “Data continue to confirm the extent to which technology underpins so many aspects of business activity across the economy and the breadth of employers who rely on their technical and digital skills.”

The report also notes that more than 9.1 million people work in tech jobs, spanning both technical and non-tech jobs employed by technology companies. Additionally, all 50 states and the District of Columbia report increased tech jobs in 2022. Texas leads the state in technology-related net employment growth, adding an estimated 45,331 jobs. California came in second for her, adding 38,186 jobs.

Additionally, CompTIA expects tech jobs to grow 3% this year, adding 272,000 jobs.

Tech jobs expected to grow this year include data scientists and analysts (5.5%), cybersecurity analysts and engineers (5.2%), web designers and UI/UX professionals (4.7%), and software developers and engineers (4.7%). 4.7%), and software. Quality assurance and testers (4.1%).

The report includes data on employment, wages, establishments, job listings, workforce diversity, and emerging technology indicators across the United States.
