PHILIPSBURG — Kay Hill’s new Social Health Insurance (SZV) office and wellness unit, located between the St. Martin Medical Center and the Raoul Iridge Sports Complex (RISC), is one step closer. Egbert Doran, Minister of Social Housing, Spatial Planning, Environment and Infrastructure (VROMI) has signed a document to finalize the long-term lease agreement with SZV.
6,400 sqm of leased land in Cay Hill will be transferred to SZV to begin Phase 1 of the development of a new office complex adjacent to the Raoul Illidge running track and sports field. Phase 1 includes construction of the SZV office building, car park and community wellness building.
The new complex will be owned by SZV, which pays rent of 2 million guilders a year for its current offices. Emphasizing cost savings, SZV and the government describe the project as an investment in communities, health and future preparedness.
SZV has submitted a tender for the architectural design of the office building and parking space in 2021. The tender was won by Independent Consulting Engineers (ICE), who are working with Caribbean Engineering and Consulting Company and Arka Architecture to perform Phase 1 development and design.
The new complex will provide a healthier and more flexible working environment for SZV employees, better access for visiting clients, a welcoming and eco-friendly community for events, daily wellness routines and family recreation. Minister Dolan said the construction would fall within the government’s development scope for the RISC region. “The Cahill District has the potential to become the health and sports hub of our country. The new SZV office building will be completed in 2024.
