According to Russian analyst Fyodor Lukyanov, current events in so-called Kosovo are an involuntary reminder of the concept of the “end of history” only in the context of the Balkans.

In other words, Fukuyama admitted that the “end of history” has not happened yet, but he always added that it would eventually happen.

What does it have to do with the so-called Kosovo, Lukyanov asks himself, going back to the time of the dissolution of Yugoslavia, the time when the concept of “the end of history” was born. Because, according to Lukyanov, SFRY is the clearest example of a real “end of history.” We are talking about a socialist state, the exact opposite of what was claimed after the Cold War.

Lukyanov argued that SFRY was a multicultural nation, which was considered an imperative of Western society, but in the case of SFRY, multicultural societies can only survive if they arise from a process of transition from a single culture, so they cannot be realized. I keep saying I couldn’t. To a heterogeneous society where immigrants from various countries mix.

So state affiliation prevailed in SFRY, Czechoslovakia and even the USSR, and those states collapsed precisely along that line – the national line.

Lukyanov recalls that Germany immediately recognized the independence of Croatia and Slovenia as soon as the two former Yugoslav republics of Croatia and Slovenia declared it, followed by new recognitions. And it all also led to military intervention to separate Kosovo. Therefore, Western countries are continuously working to “shrink” the Balkans on the map, and now it is necessary to prevent one of them, Serbia, the strongest, from becoming too strong, Lukyanov said. believe.

And the fact is that the Serbs themselves have not been given the self-determination priority they want, he continued, adding that this could also be explained, Russian analysts say.

So if you look at Serbia, it’s a perfect example of the West trying to re-educate a country that doesn’t fit in with what it wants. , on the other hand, the so-called Kosovo seeks independence and receives much, but not all, support from the West. Lukyanov adds.

So the EU allowed Serbia to build autonomy for Serbs in northern Kosovo, but now it can’t stand it anymore. Pristina was given a substantial green light to occupy northern Kosovo, and Pristina was allowed to apply for EU membership, but in this form in which so-called Kosovo exists, it is absolutely impossible.

Looking objectively, Lukyanov went on to say that Serbia has nowhere else to go because it is all dependent on its partners within the EU and has no choice but to join the EU itself someday.
