Westport Resident Leads Soundwaters

Westport’s Tony Allott was unanimously elected as the new Chairman by the Board of Directors at SoundWaters’ recent annual meeting. Allott will succeed Doug Bora in Darien, a former Spinnaker Real Estate Partners executive who has held the position since 2018.

As Chairman, Allott will lead a 30-person Board of Directors and assist SoundWaters President Leigh Shemitz and her team in expanding the organization’s capabilities through strategic planning and fundraising.

SoundWaters is a non-profit organization that teaches the science of Long Island Sound to more than 30,000 students each year from 150 schools in 65 communities in Connecticut and New York.

Allott is Chairman and former CEO of Stamford-based Silgan Holdings and co-founder of Waypoint Investors, a private equity firm. He has lived in Westport for many years and is an avid sailor, New York, Eastern and Stonington.He is a member of his Club of Harbor Yachts.

Westport Country Playhouse partners with WSHU on radio show

The Westport Country Playhouse Radio Theater will once again air a free-to-air series on WSHU Public Radio with a reprise of the audio play “A Merry Little Christmas Carol.”

A Merry Little Christmas Carol is an adaptation of the play of the same name, written and directed by Mark Shanahan, based on Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol. Shanahan is curator of the Playhouse Radio Theater as well as the Playhouse Script in Hand theatrical reading series.

Astronomical Society Hosts Free Lectures on the Moon

She has been a member of her team on numerous NASA missions, including her four ongoing or upcoming missions to the Moon. Denevi has been involved in many groups and projects and has won NASA Early Her Career Her Fellowship and seven of her NASA Group Her Achievement Awards. Asteroid 9026 Denevi is named after her.
