The vision is for the Sustainable Seafood Center to provide an independent focus of expertise supporting the Scottish, British and international seafood industry. Driven first and foremost by the needs of industry, the Center for Sustainable Seafood will provide the research and skills needed to address global challenges and keep the seafood sector at the forefront of sustainable food production. The Director will lead the strategic development of the Center in collaboration with key stakeholders. This role is responsible for promoting impactful research, knowledge exchange, graduate learning, and the highest quality enterprise and curriculum development at UHI.
The CSS Director will play a key role in the profiling and promotion of Shetland UHI and its UHI Island Academic Partners and is expected to work closely with stakeholder groups in the seafood economy across Highlands and Islands.
As a director of CSS, you will need experience in successful and innovative research in relevant subject areas, as well as experience in effective revenue generation and project management. An established leader in an academic or industry context, you have experience building and maintaining relationships with external stakeholders and partners.
Knowledge of the specific context of the fisheries sector and sustainability is essential for this role.
