WordPress 6.1 Beta 1 Released and Ready for Testing – WP Tavern

WordPress 6.1 Beta 1 was released today and began testing with the general release scheduled for November 1st in just under six weeks.

Versions 13.1-14.1 of the Gutenberg plugin will be built into the 6.1 core. This includes improved block placeholders, more design tools for blocks, smoother typography, improved editor settings and a new modal interface, use of block-based template parts in classic themes, locking internal blocks Includes features such as settings.

If you have the Gutenberg plugin installed, you may already have access to many of these features and participate in the testing process if you report a bug.

Most of the improvements in 6.1 are in the editor (over 700 enhancements and bug fixes), but the remaining core components also have 250 tickets and will be included in the next release. These include improved build/test tools, new error logs and hooks in wp-cron.php, new oEmbed support for Google Data Studio and Pocket Casts, REST API debug mode, new introduction of permalink settings screen, various sites Including health improvements. .

WordPress 6.1 will also introduce the long-awaited new default theme, Twenty Twenty-Three. It has 10 style variations contributed by the WordPress designer community.
