LG has announced that its new Dolby Atmos soundbar, first introduced at CES 2023, is now available for purchase in the US. Packed with features that make it a great option, it offers new technologies designed to improve performance and convenience when paired with LG’s OLED TVs.
It’s too early to know if these models will rank among the best Dolby Atmos soundbars, but we’ve seen Dolby Atmos and DTS:X support in the new 3.1. The Upfire Height Channel makes it possible. An attractive option for those who want to improve the sound of their TV.

Analysis: LG’s new soundbar has a big wow factor
when we tested LG S80QY Soundbar For 2022, its most striking feature was the three speakers on the top. Not only did these provide an enhanced height effect with the Dolby Atmos soundtrack, they also brought dialogue up to screen level for clarity and a more natural presentation.
The new SC9 offers this same feature, but adds 4K 120Hz passthrough to keep up with next-gen gaming consoles. LG has since made 4K 120Hz passthrough available on older soundbars like the S80QY via a software update, but the SC9 offers features that fit perfectly with the company’s C-series OLED TVs, including the C2 model. To do. Top of our list of best 4K TVs.
The included custom bracket to connect to the C-series OLED models is a nice add-on, but the SC9’s Wow Orchestra feature is also a nice feature. I got a chance to hear this in person at a recent event where LG demonstrated their new TVs, and I was very impressed with the improvement in sound offered by the soundbar alone. Sometimes, Wow Orchestra works.
Luckily, we have both the C3 OLED TV and SC9 soundbar in-house for testing and will be able to share our take on these new LG products soon. So keep an eye out for these reviews in the near future.
